— Prayer Books for the Amerikai Út Synagogue District

Over time, the synagogue’s prayer books became worn from decades of devoted use. When they deteriorated beyond repair, they were respectfully buried by the community, as is customary. As a result, only a limited number of usable prayer books remain. To ensure that communal prayer continues with dignity, new siddurim and machzorim are needed. Priority is given to machzorim for the three pilgrimage festivals – Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot – when the synagogue fills with congregants observing these sacred days together

— Prayer Books and Ritual Items for Bethlen Tér Synagogue District

Complete weekday and Shabbat prayer books, kippot, tallitot, and multi-volume chumashim are essential for the proper conduct of daily and Shabbat services. Over time, these items have become worn through regular use. This project seeks to provide new prayer books and essential synagogue items, particularly for congregants who do not have their own, ensuring that all who attend can participate fully in communal prayer.

— Liturgical and Musical Renewal for the Bethlen Tér Synagogue District

Our goal is to elevate Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat services through the engagement of new cantors and professional choirs, reaching those who have distanced themselves from synagogue life. Experience shows that the power of music and dignified liturgy can bring renewed vitality to the synagogue, as recent holiday services have demonstrated.

As part of this project, we will host four distinguished guest cantors, each offering a meaningful spiritual and communal experience. We believe that musical inspiration can open the door to deeper learning and greater participation in our educational programs and regular Shabbat services.

Each event will conclude with a large communal kiddush, providing an opportunity to strengthen personal connections and share in our traditions together. Your generous support is essential to restoring Bethlen Tér as a vibrant center of Jewish religious and cultural life in Budapest – a direct investment in the continuity and spiritual strength of the Hungarian Jewish community.

— Interior Renewal of the Nagy Fuvaros Street Synagogue District

We believe that the renewal of a synagogue is the strongest expression of the vitality and continuity of the community within it. For decades, our synagogue has stood as a pillar of Jewish life in the neighborhood, yet its interior furnishings are now in urgent need of renovation.

Our foremost priority is the complete replacement of the old, worn pews, which in their current condition are unsafe and unworthy of communal prayer. For our elderly congregants in particular, the deteriorating benches pose a serious risk, making their replacement essential for safety and comfort.

The second pillar of this project is the full modernization of the lighting system. Improved lighting will not only enhance safety, but also create proper conditions for shared study and prayer.

Your generous support will directly ensure that this historic sacred center remains a safe and dignified home for Hungarian Jewry. This investment strengthens the physical foundations that allow our traditions and prayers to continue within these walls. We invite you to stand with us in this important undertaking and help restore the light of Nagy Fuvaros Street – a powerful symbol of the unity that connects Jews around the world to our shared roots.

— Creation of a Child Friendly Space for the Hegedűs–Csáky Synagogue District

Children are among the most treasured assets of every synagogue community, as they represent the future of Jewish life in Hungary. By creating a dedicated child friendly space, the district seeks to strengthen long-term community building through the involvement of parents and grandparents alike.

— Renovation of the Torah Ark for the Hunyadi Tér Synagogue District

This year, the district marks the 130th anniversary of its founding – an occasion that could be made even more meaningful through the renovation of the Torah Ark. At the time of its installation, proper insulation was not provided, making restoration work urgently necessary to ensure the dignified practice of Jewish worship and the proper preservation of the Torah scrolls.

— Comprehensive Interior and Exterior Renovation of the Historic Miskolc Synagogue

In its current condition, the synagogue is unfortunately not usable, despite the fact that the Miskolc Jewish community remains one of the active regional congregations in Hungary.

A full interior and exterior renovation would strengthen the local Jewish community and restore the synagogue to active use. The renewed building would also serve as a meaningful cultural and historical landmark, contributing to the city’s broader heritage and tourism.

— Creation of New Exhibition Spaces in the Szeged New Synagogue

Hungary’s second largest functioning synagogue currently has only a small exhibition space, created in 2022. At the time, the congregation did not anticipate the level of interest it would generate. In recent years, the exhibitions have attracted a significant number of visitors.

A practical solution would be to convert the currently unused areas in the northern and southern towers into additional exhibition spaces, allowing the synagogue to better accommodate growing public interest.
