Many graves in the cemetery remain undocumented, and numerous Hebrew inscribed headstones have become difficult to read. In the absence of a complete cadastral register and archival records, there is a responsibility to properly identify and document these graves, preserving the memory and legacy of the community – including the 1,200 members who were deported.
The cemetery also contains approximately fifty hazardous trees, fifteen of which have grown directly from burial plots, threatening the condition of the gravestones. As part of this project, these trees must be removed without delay to ensure the safety and preservation of the site.
